The hotel is located in a historical building and is a landmark of Shanghai in itself. People come here just for a tour, as it was a meeting place for the upper crust of Shanghai in the early 19th century. The hotel has many different types of rooms, but they are all in very good condition, clean and equipped with everything you need. Some historical elements of the decor have slight "traces of time", but everything is neat and clean. The staff is polite, well trained. A limited number of staff speak a little English, but this is not a feature of this hotel, but a common practice. Be prepared that upon check-in you will be asked for a deposit, which may be more than the cost of accommodation for all days, the payment will be written off upon check-out. Breakfast is served in a buffet format with a large selection of both traditional Chinese cuisine and dishes adapted for European guests, the choice of dishes is quite large. The hotel has a very good location. Immediately opposite the hotel across the road is the People's Park, not a very large, but a picturesque park where Shanghainese themselves walk and guests enjoy walking. The famous pedestrian shopping street Nanjing Road (East) starts at a distance of 100-200 meters from the hotel, where there are countless large shopping malls, small shops, food courts, restaurants and small national snack bars. Along this street, you can walk to the famous Waitan Bund in 30-40 minutes.

I recently stayed at Park Hotel in Shanghai and had a positive experience, particularly with the front desk staff. Despite a few unforeseen issues during my stay that left me feeling a bit stressed, the team was patient, understanding, and took the time to explain the situation to me clearly and professionally. While some language barriers are to be expected, the staff's English was more than sufficient to communicate effectively, and their polite, accommodating attitude made a real difference in my stay. In addition to the excellent service, the hotel's location was very convenient, making it easy to get around. The facilities were also well-maintained, offering everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Overall, the combination of helpful staff, good location, and solid facilities made my stay enjoyable, and I would certainly consider staying here again.

The location of the hotel is excellent! Very central, very close to the Bund, right on Nanjing Street! I am Hungarian, and I know a lot about the hotel's history and its architect, Hudec Laszlo, so I booked the Park specifically for its history and its Hungarian connection. It was a sweet gesture that the hotel offered me a free breakfast, not sure they did so because of my nationality, but I would like to think so! ;) It is a gorgeous building, solid marble, granite and wood, still the most stable of all the high rises in Shanghai; they do not make them like this anymore. It is also strategically super interesting: the center of the hotel's lobby is point zero of the city of Shanghai, they first mapped Shanghai in the 1950s from the Park Hotel!

We felt welcome when we arrived at the hotel. We were attended immediately without long lineups at the reception. The staff was courteous. We were impressed with the front door bell boy service. He immediately help us to carry the luggage when he spotted us. We were also impressed with the fact that there's a staff to press the elevator button for you. We booked a standard double bed room and it was comfortable and quite spacious. The location of the hotel is perfect, just a stone throw away from People's Square Metro station (exits 8 or 9). The bonus of these 2 exits has escalators, thus no need to hoist the luggage up and down the stairs. There was a small museum inside the hotel to explain and display it's history.

Location, could not be more central. This historic hotel is the setting of the origin point for all distances in Shanghai. In the lobby stands a brass round plaque with a map, wich marks the distance 0. Set on People Square, just next to Shanghai Grand Theater, the Pacífic Hotel, the Shanghai n⁰1 departement store, the Word Emporium, and other historic builldings, it stands also near the Shanghai Museum and the new Opera House. 3 metro lines serve the place and are just across the Street. The buillding itself, is well preserved and has magnificent Art Deco features. Toghether with the Peace Hotel, not too far in the Bund, is undoubtly one of the best exemples of Art Deco in this glittering city.
